Genei Ibun Roku #FE @ Famitsu: game in debug phase, details on Fire Emblem characters, more

This week, Famitsu magazine will feature an interview with the developers of Genei Ibun Roku #FE (the Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem collaboration). It allows us to get some additional details about the game, which is almost complete: all the various elements have been implemented to the game, and right now, the team is focusing on debugging and making game balance adjustements.

According to the developers, the game takes roughly 30hours to beat, but that’s without taking into account the sidequests and other additional content outside the main story.

As revealed during E3, several characters from the Fire Emblem series appear in Genei Ibun Roku #FE as “Mirages”. From the looks of it, they are taken from (at least) two games: Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (the very first one, on NES). Abel and Cain are said to be in the game.

But apparently, characters from the Fire Emblem series will not only appear as friendly Mirages, there will also be villains. According to the developers, if a character is a villain in the Fire Emblem game it’s from, it will also be a villain in Genei Ibun Roku #FE (which will certainly paves the way for interesting turn of events during the main story). In the interview, the developers explain that one of the criteria for picking up characters was their popularity.

Finally, the developers reiterates that Genei Ibun Roku #FE is not quite a cross-over, it’s a brand new RPG featuring elements from both games. In fact, it’s a game that all fans of RPG should enjoy, even if they’re not familiar with either Fire Emblem or Shin Megami Tensei.

Genei Ibun Roku #FE (Wii U) comes out this Winter in North America, and next year in Europe and North America.
