Yoshitaka Murayama (Suikoden series creator, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes writer) has passed away

In just a few weeks, the long awaited Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, will finally be released. Unfortunately, Yoshitaka Murayama (Director, Producer, and Scenario Writer) will not be able to see the fruit of several years of hard labor finally reach the very players that helped bring it to life, for he passed away last week (on February 6th) due to complications with an ongoing illness.

Rabbit & Bear Studios have shared a message about Yoshitaka Murayama’s passing that you can find on this page (keep scrolling for the English translation of the message!).

The Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes adventure started back in 2020 with a highly succesful Kickstarter campaign. It’s a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series — a series that Yoshitaka Murayama himself created back in 1995 when he was at Konami. It will be released on April 23rd worldwide on Nintendo Switch (and other platforms).

While his passing will not impact the main game (his work on the scenario was already finished), some of the Kickstarter rewards will have to be changed as a result. More details about those changes will be shared in the future.
