XSEED: retail copies for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (NA), Exile’s End coming to Wii U

E3 starts in less than two weeks, and it looks like publishers have started revealing their line-ups for the event. Today, XSEED announced they were bringing three indie games to E3 this year, including two on Wii U. One of them is a game you already know, because it was successfully funded on Kickstarter a while ago…

Shantae Half-Genie HeroThe first game is none other than Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, which will be released at retail in collaboration with XSEED (in North America). The retail version will cost $29.99, and include a soundtrack CD (with 20 tracks). Unfortunately, we don’t know if a publisher will also pick up the game for Europe: it would certainly be great news for players who would like a retail copy (and/or the soundtrack CD!).

And in case you’re wondering, yes, this is the very “retail deal” mentioned a couple of weeks ago, during the latest Kickstarter update!

The second game for Wii U is called Exile’s End, which is a “dark & futuristic adventure-style sidescroller”. Here’s the official description:

In the distant future, mega-corporation Ravenwood exists more as an interplanetary government than a company, controlling commerce and manipulating the economy with its own private army. So when its president’s son goes missing on a remote mining planet and all contact is lost, the company quickly dispatches a team of mercenaries to investigate. Immediately upon their arrival in orbit, however, the team’s ship experiences an electrical failure and careens toward the surface. Numerous soldiers eject from the crashing ship via escape pods, but only one seems to make landfall relatively unscathed: an old, embittered private named Jameson. In his efforts to restore communications on the planet, he ends up discovering the remains of the mining colony and learns a truth far more sinister than he ever could have imagined…

Unlike Shantae: Half-Genie Heroe, Exile’s End will not be released at retail, and will only be available via the Nintendo eShop (which means that Europe will also get it). It should be out sometime this Summer.
