Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Expansion Pass Wave 2: where to find the new content (Battle Challenges, Ino (new Hero), costumes)

Wave 2 of the Expansion Pass for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes out on October 13th in North America, and October 14th in Europe and Japan. Unlike the first wave (which was sort of an appetizer!), Wave 2 includes some juicy content such as a brand new game mode (Battle Challenges), a new Hero (Ino), and some new costumes.

On this page, you will find details on how to find and access this new content. But before you read on, make sure you do following before trying to access the new content:

1. make sure to download the latest Software update for the game (check out this page for more details)
2. make sure to download the DLC data (which should be done automatically when downloading the latest Software update)
3. don’t forget to claim the additional content:
   1. launch the game and load up your save
   2. press X to access the Main Menu
   3. select Expansion Pass
   4. select Volume 2
   5. press Y to Receive Contents

New Hero: Ino

• Available from: Chapter 3
• How to unlock: complete her Hero Quest, called Champion of the Nopon.
• Where to find it: you accept it automatically upon receiving the DLC contents. The quest has you head over to the Great Idalla Ravine (Dannagh Desert, in the Fornis Region). To find it, open up the map, select “Fornis Region”, then “Fornis Region, Full”. The closest teleport point is the Great Idalla Ravine landmark.
  • Quests:
    • [Hero Quest] Champion of the Nopon (Lv. 19): received automatically upon receiving the DLC
    • [Normal Quest] Going Full HD (Lv. 20): received automatically upon completing Champion of the Nopon
    • [Ascension Quest] The Hope of Noponkind (Lv. 48): received upon reaching Chapter 5, completing Going Full HD, and reaching Lv. 10 with the Noponic Champion class with at least one character. To get it, fast travel to Namba Mound Camp (Fornis Region).

New game mode: Challenge Battles

• Available from: Chapter 3
• How to access it (first playthrough): you need to complete the quest you get automatically upon receiving the DLC contents. The quest is fairly simple: you only need to reach the portal to the Land of Challenge. It is located somewhere in Llyn Nyddwr, in Ribbits Flats (Fornis Region). To access it, open up the map, select “Fornis Region”, then “Fornis Region, Full”. The closest teleport point is the Llyn Nyddwr Camp.

Once inside the Land of Challenges, simply talk to the Nopon Archsage to take on some challenges!

New costumes: Swimsuits

• Available from: Chapter 3
• How to access it: each costume is available as a reward for First Rank A or better from the Challenge Battles mode. Clear the following challenges to get the costumes and their variations:
  • Noah – Swimwear A (Defender’s Gut-Check)
  • Noah – Swimwear B (Ocean Day Parade)
  • Mio – Swimwear A (Insecticide)
  • Mio – Swimwear B (Pretty Fierce)
  • Lanz – Swimwear A (Vampiric Rush)
  • Lanz – Swimwear B (Double Jeopardy)
  • Eunie – Swimwear A (Philharmonic Dust-Up)
  • Eunie – Swimwear B (Ouroboros Fever)
  • Sena – Swimwear A (Black Castle Chosen)
  • Sena – Swimwear B (Arts and Crafts)
  • Taion – Swimwear A (Six Angry Beasts)
  • Taion – Swimwear B (Ferro x Ferron)

NB: you can complete the relevant challenges on any difficulty, all that matters is that you get Rank A or better! Do note that some of the challenges are only unlocked after Chapter 6 or after completing the game.
