Viz Media: Pokémon Cookbook coming in December, talks Pokémon franchise

Do you like cooking? Do you wish the dishes you cook looked as cute as your favorite Pokémon? If your answer to those questions is “Yes”, then Viz Media has the right book for you. In an interview with Beth Kawazaki from VIZ, it was revealed that a Pokémon Cooking Book (simply called Pokémon Cookbook, at least for now) will be released in December in English. It’s part of a new type of publishing for Pokémon at Viz (who is not going to stick only to manga).

The book is aimed at kids, and features recipes for Pikachu ramen, PokéBall sushi rolls, Mashed Meowth potatoes, or Psyduck omelets. Naturally, this book will not teach you how to make a refreshing milkshake with Miltank milk, or a juicy and tender Tauros steak (you monster!). The recipes simply show you how to give a Pokémon face to various dishes.

Here’s what the cover of the Pokémon Cookbook looks like (Japanese edition):

In the interview, Beth Kawazaki also talks a bit about VIZ’s projects for Pokémon (a property they’re pretty happy with), and mentions a series of Pocket Comics with 2 volumes launching in October, and a third one (based on Pokémon X and Y) launching in December.

The company also has plans for the San Diego Comic-Con (in July). Hidenori Kusaka and Satoshi Yamamoto, authors of the Pokémon Adventure manga, will be coming as special guests (their very first North American convention). They will hold a panel, sign autographs, and more. It looks like there will even be exclusive items on sale during the convention.
