Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers announced for the Nintendo Switch; trailer, details, screens

Yesterday, during the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017, Capcom announced a Street Fighter game for the Nintendo Switch. No, it’s not a port or a new version of Street Fighter V, but instead, the umpteenth version Street Fighter II. The game is called Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, and it will be released at retail and on the Nintendo eShop (at least in Japan).

This new version of the SNES classic will feature two new characters:

  • Evil Ryu: he has succumbed to the Satsui no Hado, and is now obsessed with fighting in order to prove he is the strongest. His former (honorable) self has been completely purged, and now only cares about two things: his absolute power, and his unquenchable bloodthirst for battle (that he has embraced wholeheartedly);
  • Violent Ken: Ken has been kidnapped by M. Bison, who brainwashed him, enhanced his abilities with Psycho Power, and twisted his rivalry with Ryu into pure hatred. Thsi version of Ken is infinitely more ruthless, aggressive, and fearless. His moves now feature purple flames instead of his signature fire.

As far as features go, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers will let players chose between classic pixel-art graphics, or enjoy HD graphics created by UDON Entertainment. Using the Joy-Cons, players will be able to challenge each other in Arcade mode, or team-up to fight against the CPU at the same time. There will also be brand-new single-playr and multiplayer modes.

The game will be playable in TV, Tabletop, and Handheld mode, allowing you play wherever you want.
