UK: video games sales for Week 9, 2016 (Feb. 29 – March 5)

During Week 9, a certain legendary game came out in HD in the United Kingdom… that’s right, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, on Wii U. It’s off to a pretty great start: it landed straight at #1, something we haven’t seen in a long time. Naturally, it’s the new best-seller on Wii U, kicking Mario Kart 8 off the top spot (it doesn’t even appear in the Top 40 anyway).

It’s not clear how long it will remain in the Top 40, but since the Legend of Zelda is still rather popular (even in the UK), we can expect it to stick around at least a couple of weeks.

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HDUnfortunately, Bravely Second: End Layer didn’t do quite as well. It did land at #9 last week, but it’s already out of the Top 40. In its place, we find two other Nintendo 3DS games in the Top 40: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, which are #36 and #31 respectively. We can assume this boost in sales is due to the announcement of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon on February 26th. Both games are the new best-sellers on Nintendo 3DS.

Finally, we have a Wii game making its comeback in the Top 40: Just Dance 2016, which is #35.
