Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – Ask the Developer interview now live
Over a decade: that’s how long fans of the Tomodachi Life had to wait before getting a new entry. But as you can imagine, the developers of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream didn’t just twiddle their thumbs during the 11 years (10 years outside Japan) since Tomodachi Life on Nintendo 3DS.
Indeed, the development team truly went above and beyond to ensure this Nintendo Switch entry was worthy of its predecessors by, among other things, putting a particular focus on UGC (User Generated Content): in this new entry, players can create all sort of things, and customise many aspects of the game beyond just the Mii characters.
If you want to know more about the development of what is likely to end up the quierkest game of the Nintendo Switch, make sure to check out the Ask the Developer interview that went live today!
It features the following people:
- Ryutaro Takahashi (Director – Entertainment Planning & Development Department, Production Group No. 4)
- Takaomi Ueno (Programming Director – Entertainment Planning & Development, Production Group No. 4)
- Naonori Ohnishi (Programming Director – Entertainment Planning & Development Department, Production Group No. 4)
- Daisuke Kageyama (Art Director – Entertainment Planning & Development Department, Production Group No. 4)
- Toru Minegishi (Sound Director – Entertainment Planning & Development Department, Sound Management Group)
As always, the interview is made up of several chapters:

- Part 2: Make anything you want
- Part 3: Nine years’ worth of ideas
And if you don’t feel like reading the full thing now, here’s a video with the various clips from the interview:
