Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 come to Switch next month (with amiibo next year) + footage
During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo made quite a few Mario-related announcements as part of the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary. One of them is Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, which is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 2nd worldwide.
The two games will be available either as part of a bundle (in both physical and digital format) or as stand-alone releases (digital-only). They will only be available on Nintendo Switch, but they will get a Nintendo Switch 2 update that adds support for 4k display.
Here’s the reveal trailer:
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2: Travel the cosmos with Mario in Super Mario Galaxy, then board Starship Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2 with Yoshi as your companion! Both titles feature improved UI, the option to play with button and stick or motion controls, an in-game music player, new Storybook content and enhanced resolution.
And if you want to see more of the games in action, here’s a video with some footage:
Finally, here’s some screenshots and the boxart:
But that’s not all! Two new amiibo (larger than standard size amiibo) will launch on April 2nd:
- Mario & Luma (give a Life Mushroom when scanned)
- Rosalina & Lumas (give a 1-Up Mushroom when scanned)
Finally, Nintendo announced that an actual hardbook copy of Rosalina’s Storybook will launch: you can check out the My Nintendo Store for more details! Unfortunately, this book will not contain the extra pages added to the in-game version in the Nintendo Switch version…
