Splatoon: the fifth Splatfest for Japan will take place next week-end (Boke vs Tsukkomi)

Splatfest are special 24 hour long events that take place regularly in Splatoon. During those, players have to answer a question (like “Do you prefer cats or dogs?”), before joining a team depending on their answer. At the end of each Splatfest, the team with the most points win, based on popularity and number of battles won.

Today, the Squid Research Lab announced that the fifth Splatfest would take place on September 12th and September 13th in Japan. And this time around, the theme is “Boke vs Tsukkomi”… which probably seems puzzling to anyone not familiar with Manzai (traditional style of stand-up comedy in Japanese culture).

Basically, “Boke” is the “character” who says stupid things, and then gets prompty corrected by the “Tsukkomi”, who usually hits the Boke on the head with a harisen (pleated paper fan). In other words, this fifth Splatfest asks Japanese players if they are more of a “funny man” or a “straight man”.

JP Splatfest 5This Splatfest will take place on:

– Japan: September 12th (12PM) to September 13th (12PM)
– Europe: September 12th (5AM) to September 13th (5AM)
– UK: September 12th (4AM) to September 12th (4AM)
– North America (EDT): September 11th (10PM) to September 12th (10PM)
– North America (PDT): September 11th (7PM) to September 12th (7PM)

As usual, this Splatfest is only for players with a Japanese copy of Splatoon. The fourth European and North American Splatfest will most likely take place on September 19th/20th.
