Splatoon 3: footage, Splatfest World Premiere, official website, additional details (save data bonus, save data cloud, more)

During the Splatoon 3 Direct, Nintendo shared lots of details for Splatoon 3 (click here to check it all out!). If that wasn’t enough for you, there’s some more footage for the game to check out!

Here’s the video:

(NB: no sound, unfortunately!).

Also, Nintendo have launched the full official website for Splatoon 3: click here to check it out! It offers lots of additional details about the game, and the Confidential Report is especially rich in juicy details.

This section reveals that players with save data for Splatoon 2 will be able to get some extras in Splatoon 3:

  • Receive three Gold Sheldon Licenses that you can exchange for main weapons, regardless of player level
  • Join Anarchy Battles from the beginning of the game, regardless of player level
  • Start the game with a higher rank, depending on your rank in Splatoon 2
  • Get matched against players with similar skill levels from Splatoon 2

Unlike Splatoon 2, Splatoon 3 will be compatible with the Save Data Cloud Backup feature from Nintendo Switch Online. That’s only for Single Player content though, as data related to multiplayer is now stored online and linked to your Nintendo Account:

Online Splatoon 3 data—like player level, ranks, items, and gear—is automatically stored in a server and connected to each player’s Nintendo Account.

Since things like progress in Story Mode don’t require an internet connection, they can be stored via the Save Data Cloud Backup service included in Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions.

You can also play on multiple Nintendo Switch systems if your user account is tied to your Nintendo Account.

About the Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere, it will take place on August 27th/28th (check out this page for the schedule). The demo is now available for download, but will only be playable starting on August 25th. Before the Splatfest begins, you will be able to check out the tutorial, allowing you to familiarise yourself with the basics (such as the controls) before the event kicks off.

Do note that you will need a valid Nintendo Switch Online to participate in the Splatfest. If you don’t have a subscription, you will get a Serial Code for a 7-day trial simply by downloading the demo (code itself can only be redeemed between August 25th and August 31st in North America, and August 25th and August 29th in Europe).

Finally, if you’re planning to buy the digital version of Splatoon 3, you can get twice the usual amount of Gold Coins if you do so before September 30th in North America and Europe!

Splatoon 3 (Switch) comes out on September 9th worldwide.
