Splatoon 2: Hori releasing Forge-branded headset, comes with remote control for voice chat
In Splatoon and Splatoon 2, there’s a brand called Forge, that sells various pieces of clothings and accessories (just like all other brands). One of their products is a pretty neat headset, and that’s the one Hori choose for their latest Nintendo Switch accessory.
On July 21st, Hori will release a Forge-branded stereo headset, designed to look exactly like the in-game accessory. It will cost 3 480 Yen + taxes. But what’s really interesting about this isn’t the headset itself, but instead the remote control it comes with. As you can see on the pictures below, it’s meant to be used with a smartphone, in order to chat with friends during matches.
Basically, you plug-in the jack port of the headset into this remote control, which has two jack ports. The first one goes into your smartphone: that’s for voice chat. The second one goes into your Nintendo Switch: that’s for game sound. The remote control allows you to turn the mic on and off (but not control volume, unfortunately).
Here’s some additional details about the headset:
- Dimensions: 140 mm × 166 mm × 75 mm
- Weight: ~130 g (not counting the cable and the remote control)
- Headset: neckband type
- Driver: φ40 mm
- Cable length: ~1.2 m (headset), ~0.5 m remote control
- Microphone type: Flexible arm (removable), Unidirectional
- Connectors: analog φ 3.5 mm 4 pole jack (headset), analog φ 3.5 mm 4 pole jack + analog φ 3.5 mm 3 pole jack (remote control)
- Accessories: replacement ear cup (neon pink), extension cable (2.5 m).
Finally, here’s some pictures:
This Splatoon 2 Stereo Headset from Hori will be released on July 21st in Japan. No announcement has been made for Europe and North America, but since Hori release their accessories worldwide, it would be surprising if there was no western release.
Splatoon 2 (Switch) will be released on July 21st worldwide.
