Sales milestones: Persona 5 Royal / Sonic Frontiers / Minecraft Legends

Persona 5 Royal

As part of their latest financial results, SEGA announced that Persona 5 Royal “Remaster” (released in October 2022) has shipped over 1.7 million units worldwide as of March 31st 2023. Despite being the remaster of an extended version of a RPG originally released back in 2016, it’s selling as well as a brand new entry thanks to availability on additional platforms.

Here’s previous milestones for this game:

  • December 1st, 2022: 1 million units shipped
  • December 31st, 2022: 1.3 million units shipped
  • March 31st, 2023: 1.7 million units shipped

Looking at this, it’s pretty clear Persona 5 Royal will have no trouble selling over 2 million units, and should be able to reach 3 million units shipped when all is said and done (with the potential help of discounts).

Sonic Frontiers

As part of their latest financial results, SEGA announced that Sonic Frontiers has shipped over 3.2 million units worldwidne since launch. The 3D Sonic series is used to tepid sales, but with this entry, SEGA was finally able to reverse its painful decline.

Here’s the previous milestones for this game:

  • December 12th, 2022: 2,5 million units shipped
  • December 31st, 2022: 2.9 million units shipped
  • March 22nd, 2022: 3 million units shipped
  • March 31st: 3.2 million units shipped

So far, the game is enjoying steady sales, and 4 million units shipped is definitely within reach.

Minecraft Legends

Mojang has announced that over 3 million players have played Minecraft Legends since launch. A pretty respectable milestone, though it’s worth noting the game is available on GamePass, which means it has not quite sold 3 million units (yet?).
