Today is November 1st, which means it’s this month that Pokémon Sun and Moon comes out worldwide.

If you really cannot wait before playing the game, and therefore would like to be able to do so at the very second it goes live on the Nintendo eShop (at midnight on release date, with exceptions), you can now pre-load it. If you do, you will get 12 Quick Balls to use in-game, provided you pre-purchase before release day (at least in Europe).

You can do so either from the Nintendo eShop, or from Nintendo’s website:

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be unlocked at the following time:

European Nintendo 3DS set to any country but the UK

  • Europe: November 23rd at 12AM
  • UK: November 22nd at 11PM
  • North America (ET): November 22nd at 8PM
  • North America (PT): November 22nd at 5PM

But in order to pre-load Pokémon Sun and Moon, you will need at least 3.2GB / 25 600 blocks of free space on your SD Card. If you also plan to get the demo (or if you have already downloaded it), that will be 3.7GB / 28 700 blocks of free space on your SD Card for both.

Of course, you can always switch your SD Card for one with better capacity. Nintendo uploaded a special video to explain just that:

There are plenty of tutorials for changing the SD Card available online, but here’s a few tips:

  • always copy/paste when transferring data, no cut/paste!
  • always make sure there is the same number of files in the SD Card and the copy on your computer;
  • never, ever format the original SD Card until you are sure that all the games and save data files made it to the new SD Card (you can check out by launching the games)

Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS) comes out on November 18th in Japan and North America, and November 23rd in Europe.
