Nintendo Switch 2: Nintendo Switch Game Compatibility Page Updates, list of games getting compatibility updates (latest: June 5th)

Back when Nintendo first teased the Nintendo Switch 2, back in January, the company confirmed that the new console would be able to play not just Nintendo Switch 2 titles, but also the majority of exisiting Nintendo Switch games. However, not all games will be compatible, which is why a Nintendo Switch Game Compatibility with Nintendo Switch 2 page was launched.

There are over 15,000 games available on Nintendo Switch, and the teams at Nintendo are going through each and every single one of them to ensure they run on Nintendo Switch 2. A pretty daunting task!

Nintendo is planning to update the Nintendo Switch Game Compatibility with Nintendo Switch 2 page on a regular basis, detailing the proportion of games that are fully compatible, and those that aren’t.

Here’s the latest update (June 5th). No ETA on next update:

NB: the screenshots go from most recent to least recent, allowing you to see the progress made with the testing of all the games.

Here’s the list of games with issues that are planned to be addressed:

• Detail: The Nintendo Switch 2 console cannot be inserted into the Toy-Con VR Goggles accessory, so this game cannot be played.

• Publisher: Dwango
• Details: Cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.

• Title: ABEMA
• Publisher: AbemaTV
• Detail: Cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.

• Title: Hulu
• Publisher: Hulu
• Details: Cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.

• Title: Crunchyroll
• Publisher: Crunchyroll
• Details: Cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.

• Title: InkyPen
• Publisher: InkyPen
• Details: Cannot be used on Nintendo Switch 2.

Given the majority of those are streaming apps, it’s likely that a rights and/or DRM issue is the cause of non-compatibility, and that dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 apps will be released in the future.
