Nintendo Museum Direct announced for August 19th/20th

gamescom takes place this week in Cologne, Germany, and with all those game announcements flying around, one might have easily expected Nintendo to announce a new Nintendo Direct. And it turns out the company is indeed planning to host a new presentation this very week, though it’s definitely not what you were expecting… It’s a Nintendo Museum Direct, entirely dedicated to the Nintendo Museum slated to open this Fall in Japan.

Back in June 2021, Nintendo announced its intention to turn the Uji Ogura Plant (previously known as the “Uji Plant” — its historical plant where playing cards and Hanafuda cards were manufactured) into a museum. First known as Nintendo Gallery, the museum was later renamed Nintendo Museum back when it was announced that it would open in Fall 2024.

And during this upcoming Nintendo Museum Direct, Nintendo is expected to announce when the museum will open, and share some further details about it. The presentation will last around 10 minutes.

If you’re expecting game announcements for the Nintendo Switch, or even a reveal of the elusive Nintendo Switch successor, then this is one presentation you might want to skip as it will feature neither. This Nintendo Museum Direct will be entirely dedicated to the Nintendo Museum.

Here’s when the Nintendo Direct will take place:

  • Europe: August 20th at 12AM
  • UK: August 19th at 11PM
  • North America (ET): April 19th at 6PM
  • North America (PT): April 19th 3PM
  • Japan: April 20th at 7AM

And here’s the embed of the livestream (alternatively, the Japanese stream can be found on this page):
