Monster Hunter X does not feature any subspecies

Monster Hunter XA few days ago, Famitsu revealed some details about one of the new features of Monster Hunter X: monster variants. They’re actually separate from subspecies, and there’s more to them than just a change of appearance. They’re quite fiercer than the regular monsters, and you even need a special permit in order to go hunt them.

But Capcom still hasn’t said anything about the subspecies appearing in Monster Hunter X, and there’s a good reason for that… there won’t be any. In an interview published in Nintendo Dream, the developers reveal that subspecies (such as the Rathalos subspecies) will not be in the game. Apparently, they decided not to include them in order to offer a more varied selection of regular monsters instead.

Players looking for a good challenge can always try hunting one of the monster variants, or the Outraged Monsters!

Monster Hunter X (3DS) comes out on November 28th in Japan.
