Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: latest trailer showcases all 96 courses

When Mario Kart 8 was first released on Wii U, back in 2014, it had “only” 32 courses split into 8 cups (4 cups with brand new courses, and 4 cups with returning courses from past games). Fastforward nearly a decade later, and the number of courses has tripled to 96. This ensures that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will remain the most expansive Mario Kart game ever released for a long, long time!

Today, Nintendo has shared a brand new trailer for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, showcasing every single course from the game: those from the base game, the DLC for the base game, and all 48 courses from the Booster Course pass.

Looking at the total number of courses, one cannot help but regret that Nintendo didn’t go the extra mile and add one, final cup to bring the total to 100 courses. However, development on Mario Kart Tour has ended, and that game was the source of most (if not all) the courses from the Booster Course Pass, so it’s unlikely Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is ever getting any more additional content.

It’s not clear what the future holds for the Mario Kart series, though it’s pretty obvious Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn’t the final entry in the series. A brand new Mario Kart game is, without the shadow of a doubt, currently in development at Nintendo. It’s not clear how much it will differ from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but one thing is already (all but) guaranteed: it will have less courses than its predecessor… at least, at launch!
