Famitsu

Top 10 Software

In February, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe was the best-selling game in Japan with just one week of sales (technically, 3 days!). It sold 189 931 units, which is a noticeable improvement over the sales of the original (144 000 units sold at launch on Wii). This is a great start for this new version of the game, as remakes/remasters often do not come anywhere close sales of the original, let alone outsell them (especially straight from launch).

Both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Kirby Star Arise ended up selling over 1 million units in total, and it’s definitely possible Kirby’s Return to Dream Land will do the same (with digital included, of course).

Publishers

Once again, Nintendo was the most successful publisher with over half-a-million games sold in February. A good chunk of those sales come from Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, but also Fire Emblem Engage’s second month, and the usual evergreen titles.

  1. Nintendo: 510 000 units sold
  2. Square-Enix: 162 000 units sold
  3. WB Games: 127 000 units sold
Hardware

In February, the Nintendo Switch sold “only” 221 000 units, a sharp drop compared to January (which can’t be only explained by the shorter tracking period). For the first time since the launch of the PlayStation 5, the Nintendo Switch was not the best-selling console in Japan.
