Japan: more data for Week 26, 2016, Q1 2016-17 (incl. Top 5 Software)

Media Create

Today, Media Create released its weekly report for video game sales in Japan, providing us with more sales data for Week 26. During that week, a total of 419 000 units were sold for Software, which is 96.53% of Week 25 sales. According to Media Create, this drop is mainly due to many releases not even selling 10 000 units this week. The ratio of new sales in total Software sales dropped to 69.18% this week.

Things went well on Nintendo platforms, as sales of previously released games increased: Week 26 amount to 123.36% of Week 26 sales after all. Total Software sales (old and new titles) were at pretty much the same level as last week.

Finally, here’s sell-through data for Culdcept Revolt: 50-60%, with a very loyal fanbase (makings things easy for retailers, who knew exactly how many units they needed to order). The game might end up selling over 100 000 units LTD.
