Downtown Nekketsu Jidaigeki: some screens from the official website

Last week, Arc System Works opened the official website for Downtown Nekketsu Jidaigeki (a new game for the Kunio-kun series, on the Nintendo 3DS).

And today, the company has updated this website with some screenshots / details for gameplay. They remind us that the game offers the usual “Gang Action” that the series is known for: it is a beat ’em all where you can fight with your fists and legs, but also with various items across the levels (like buckets, rocks and more).

One new feature of the game: you can now fight with swords (a system called “Katana Action”), which does use some energy which each swing. It’s also possible to play the story mode with up to 4 players (Kunio-kun, Tsurumatsu and 2 gang members are the playable characters). Finally, there’s a Skill Tree, where you can teach some new abilities to your character.

Downtown Nekketsu Jidaigeki (3DS) comes out on May 28th in Japan.
