Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is off to a great start with over 740,000 units sold in just 10 days. Unsurprisingly, it was the best-selling game in April by a wide margin.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sold significantly better than its predecessors (which both sold over 1 million units in total), and that’s only counting physical sales (which didn’t exist on Nintendo DS, and were negligible at best on Nintendo 3DS).
As comparison, Tomodachi Life on Nintendo 3DS sold 563.000 units during its launch month. Given the sales trajectory of previous titles, which both enjoyed strong sales in the long run, it’s quite likely Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will end up outselling its predecessor (1.827.000), and do so in record time!
Meanwhile, Pokémon Pokopia saw a sharp drop in sales during its second month, though it did manage to sell over 100,000 units (in fact, it’s the only other game to sell that much in April). It should reach the 1 million units sold milestone in May, provided the Golden Week boost was big enough.
Finally, Pragmata sold a little over 63.000 units in total, with 14.453 units for the Nintendo Switch 2 version (which came out one week later than the PlayStation 5 version).

Publishers
This month, Nintendo is back at the top of the Publishers Top 3 with nearly 950.000 units sold. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream accounts for most of those sales, with the usual evergreen titles making up the rest.
Fortunately for The Pokémon Company, Pokémon Pokopia‘s sales did not drop enough for it to slip out of the Publishers Top 3. It’s #2 this month with 142.000 units sold, with most of those sales coming from Pokémon Pokopia.
Finally, Capcom is #3 this month with 117.000 units sold. Several titles contributed to those sales: the recently launched Pragmata of course (accounting for over half of the total), but also Resident Evil Requiem, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, and Monster Hunter 3: Twisted Reflection.
- Nintendo: 942.000
- The Pokémon Company: 142.000
- Capcom: 117.000
Hardware
April was a relatively slow month for the Nintendo Switch 2 with “only” 200,000 units sold. Despite this drop in sales, the console did manage to reach its next milestone with over 5 million units sold since launch (in 11 months to be precise). With those sales, the Nintendo Switch 2 continues its streak as the fastest-selling console ever on the Japanese market.
The Nintendo Switch also saw a drop in sales, though it was fairly limited. Despite being in its 10th year, the console is still hovering around 100,000 units sold each month, which is pretty remarkable. Unfortunately, the recently announced price hike is bound to have a noticeable impact on sales…
- Nintendo Switch 2 – 201.706 (previous month: 457.531)
- Nintendo Switch – 96.111 (previous month: 103.267
- PlayStation 5 – 46.000
