Top 5 Software
May saw the release of FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time, which is off to a really promising start with nearly 83,000 units sold on Nintendo Switch alone during the first 4 days.
And thanks to the live-action movie (released at the end of April in Japan), Minecraft managed to climb to #2 in May. It’s the first time in three years and nine months that the game managed to chart that high (since August 2021, to be precise).

Publishers
Yet again, Nintendo is the most successful publisher in Japan with over 190.000 units sold. It’s a rather soft drop from the +220.000 units sold in April, only made possible thanks to the ever-impressive sales of its evergreen titles.
Level-5 makes its comeback in the Publisher Top 3 at last, with around 94.000 units sold. Most of those sales come from both versions of FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time.
Finally, Bandai-Namco is #3 with 44.000 units sold, with the Nintendo Switch version of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny Remastered accounting for over half of those sales.
- Nintendo: 193.000
- Level-5: 94.000
- Bandai-Namco: 44.000
Hardware
Amusingly enough, Nintendo Switch sales were perfectly stable in May with 109.453 units sold (barely a thousand units less than in April). Even though its successor releases tomorrow (June 5th), the Nintendo Switch is still cruising along at a surprisingly steady pace.
- Nintendo Switch – 109.453 (previous month: 110.566)
- PlayStation 5 – 32.657 (previous month: 38.327)
