Take-Two have announced that WWE 2K Battlegrounds is coming to the Nintendo Switch. It will be released on September 18th worldwide, with two editions available:

  • Standard ($39.99): includes the Edge Totally Awesome Pre-Order Pack (WWE Hall of Famer Edge)
  • Digital Deluxe ($49.99): includes the Edge Totally Awesome Pre-Order Pack (WWE Hall of Famer Edge), Digital Deluxe Bonus Pack (all versions of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock and Ronda Rousey unlocked at the beginning of play), and 1100 Golden Bucks

Here’s the debut trailer for WWE 2K Battlegrounds:

The game will feature the following superstars:

  • Roman Reigns
  • Drew McIntyre
  • Charlotte Flair
  • Becky Lynch
  • Asuka
  • Daniel Bryan
  • Kofi Kingston
  • Randy Orton
  • Andre the Giant
  • Undertaker
  • Mankind
  • Shawn Michaels
  • Yokozuna
  • Sgt. Slaughter
  • … and many more

Here’s details about how the superstars play:

Each Superstar comes to the ring with one of five class styles, each featuring its own combat moves, strengths and weaknesses. Pick from the Powerhouse, Technician, High-Flyer, Brawler or All-Rounder to brawl with authority. Then break all the rules with arcade-style powerups, such as Flaming Fist, Ice Breath and Earthquake to quickly change the course of a match.

And here’s some details about the game itself:

Prepare to brawl with your friends and family with the help of a roster of more than 70 WWE Superstars and Legends at launch, with even more Superstars entering the Battlegrounds after release. Everybody from WWE superfans to first-timers can hit the ropes with several wild ways to pick up and play:

Exhibition

Brawl with ease in Exhibition matches at home or on-the-go, anytime and anywhere, in local and online multiplayer action for up to four players.

Campaign

Brawl to the top as you join the adventures of seven new WWE hopefuls – created exclusively for WWE 2K Battlegrounds – in Campaign mode and compete for the chance to earn a WWE contract. Along the way, you’ll unlock new arenas, inspired by extreme locations such as the Everglades, a military-style Bootcamp, Mexico, New York and Scotland, while receiving guidance from legendary personalities including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin® and Paul Heyman™.

King of the Battleground

Brawl with the best in the King of the Battleground, an online, last-man-standing mode where four players start in the ring while four more wait outside to enter, challenging you to run the gauntlet and defeat them all.

Online

Brawl all over the world in online tournaments and Exhibition matches. Hungry for a change of scenery? Eight chaotic Battlegrounds environments are coming down the aisle, featuring interactive elements that add to the mayhem and a ton of outrageous ringside weapons you can grab to even the odds. Try diving off a military helicopter, or smash your buddies with cars in an auto shop, or toss your best friend into the jaws of a hungry alligator in the swamp. All the while, get your play-by-play commentary fix courtesy of WWE commentators Mauro Ranallo™ and Jerry “The King” Lawler®.

Make the Battlegrounds yours by customizing your own arenas to give each brawl a personal touch and then tag in the Superstar Creator to build your own, unique WWE Superstar with different body types and sizes, facial features, clothing, hair and fighting styles.
