Spain: video games sales for 2017, Mario Party: The Top 100, Metroid: Samus Returns, more

Last month, the latest issue of Hobby Consolas shared some more sales data for the Spanish video game market. Let’s start with the cumulative sales for a few Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS titles (and one Wii U and Wii game), including Mario Party: The Top 100.

Mario Party: The Top 100 is off to a decent debut, with 5 247 units sold in just a couple of weeks (good thing Nintendo chose not to skip the holiday season after all!). Just Dance 2018 just keep selling, with the Nintendo Switch version accounting for more than half of total sales.

Meanwhile, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom has been enjoying steady sales, just like Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique 3 – Styling Star. Unfortunately, sales for Metroid: Samus Returns are a bit more “confidential”, but still good enough

  • Mario Party: The Top 100 (Nintendo 3DS) – 5 247 units
  • FIFA 18 (All platforms) – 640 553 units
  • Just Dance 2018 (All platforms) – 75 739 units
  • Just Dance 2018 (Nintendo Wii) – 34 258 units
  • Just Dance 2018 (Nintendo Switch) – 16 759 units
  • Just Dance 2018 (Nintendo Wii U) – 8 029 units
  • Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle (Nintendo Switch) – 50 295 units
  • New Style Boutique 3 (Nintendo 3DS) –  31 772 units
  • Metroid: Samus Returns (Nintendo 3DS) – 7 200 units (as of Week 51, 2017)

Next, here’s the Top 20 Software for the full year (up to Week 51, 2017), with a few Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS exclusives in there:

19. SPLATOON 2 (NINTENDO) – 60,000
20. DESTINY 2 (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) – 45,000

Finally, here’s the Software market share for the full year:

  • PLAYSTATION 4 (64%)
  • NINTENDO 3DS (12%)
  • NINTENDO SWITCH (10%)
  • XBOX ONE (4%)

Unsurprisingly, the Nintendo Switch has a rather limited market share, which is due to the low number of releases at retail. At the very least, we know that it’s only going to go up from now on, as more and more games are released. The Nintendo Switch is certainly no Wii U, that’s for sure!
