Before the end of the month, Pokémon Bank will receive a brand new update (the first one since 2014). Its main goal is to add compatiblity with Pokémon Sun and Moon, and also Pokémon Red Version / Blue Version / Green Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition. But the good news is, there will also be some other new features and changes.
First, here’s some details about transfers from Pokémon Red Version / Blue Version / Green Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console:
- Pokémon will likely have 3 max IVs (at least);
- their nature will be random;
- Pokémon may have their Hidden Ability;
- Pokémon transferred from those games will have a unique GameBoy mark on their profile.
Reminder: Pokémon transferred cannot be sent back to their original game… and yes, that applies to all games, including Pokémon Red Version / Blue Version / Green Version / Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition. As for hold items, they will be sent back automatically to the original game if you try to deposit a Pokémon holding one.
Next, we have details about the National Pokédex, which will read your saved data from Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, and Moon (+ future games). It will allow you to see details about pretty much all the known Pokémon (even those that don’t appear in Pokémon Sun and Moon).
The good news is that you will not need to deposit your Pokémon in the Pokémon Bank for them to be registered in this Super Pokédex. It will sync up with the games used with Pokémon Bank automatically, and it will list the Pokémon seen and caught and each game (with separate and combined listing).
Quite interestingly, this new version of Pokémon Bank will also offer various stats, such as the number of Pokémon caught, the amount of eggs hatched, and more. Those stats will cover all games. Finally, you will be able to send Battle Points via Pokémon Bank again.
