Nintendo: updated launch schedule (January 2019)

As usual, Nintendo revealed their updated launch schedule for upcoming Switch and 3DS titles today, along with their financial results for Q1+2+3 2018-19.

Unfortunately, this is a document for investors, who can check out how many games are coming out for each platform. It’s not a list for consumers or even the press, with exact dates or anything. Therefore, do not expect to find many new release dates in the lists below.

As expected, both Bayonetta 3 are and Metroid Prime 4 (recently rebooted) still don’t have a release window, just TBA. In fact, Nintendo hasn’t made any significant change to the already announced games in the first-party list. MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order was added, and Dragon Quest Builders 2 is still listed in Europe and North America despite Nintendo or Square-Enix not making a single announcement about it.

Unfortunately, the third-party list does not reveal any unannounced game. On Nintendo 3DS, there’s just one last game listed: Mobile Ball by mixi. Unfortunately, we still don’t have any details about this mysterious game, and it definitely would not be a surprise if it ended cancelled altogether… it certainly would be the wisest things to do, given the drop in Nintendo 3DS sales!

NB: since the planning is for the current Fiscal Year (April 1st to March 31st), it includes already released titles (such as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe). And as always, keep in mind those lists are not exhaustive (they’re actually missing quite a few games and/or dates): for the complete list of upcoming games on all platforms, make sure to check out our Upcoming Games page!
