Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge – Trailer for the characters

Mini Mario and Friends amiibo ChallengeToday, Nintendo of America uploaded a trailer for Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, which could be considered the latest entry in the Mario vs Donkey Kong series. It introduces the various playable characters to be found the game (which all require an amiibo), along with their respective abilities:

  • Mini Mario: Wall Jump
  • Mini Luigi: High Jump
  • Mini Peach: Floating Jump
  • Mini Toad: Small Crawl
  • Mini Yoshi: Eat Enemies
  • Mini Bowser: Bowser Bomb
  • Mini Donkey Kong: Quick Climb
  • Mini Diddy Kong: Ledge Grab
  • (Not show in the trailer): Mini Spek (if you don’t have any amiibo)

Here’s the trailer for Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS:

Right now, the only way to get the game is to buy an amiibo at one of the participating retailers in North America and Japan. In doing so, you will get a download code for both versions of the game (Wii U and Nintendo 3DS), but you will still need amiibo to play. If you don’t want to buy an amiibo (because you already own them, for example), Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge will be available for free from the Nintendo eShop from April 28th.

Unfortunately, we don’t know when the game will be released in Europe, but we can assume it will be available at the same time as (or slightler after) the North American release on April 28th.
