Japan: sales for June 2016 (Software, Publishers, more)

This week, Famitsu has shared some data about June 2016 sales in Japan (May 30th to June 26th). First, Software: sales were dominated by Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, which came out at the beginning of the month. Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns also did well with 110 597 units sold, but not only Ace Attorney is the more popular series, but the latest entry in the Story of Seasons series came out two weeks later.
As for Taiko Drum Master: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure, it had a modest debut with about 50 000 units, but as mentioned several times before, the game is expected to sell during the Summer holidays.

The Nintendo 3DS was the most popular platform, with 3 games in the Top 5.

As for publishers, Capcom was the most successful in June 2016 according to Famitsu, mostly thanks to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice. Nintendo is only #3, but that’s without any release at retail: as usual, Nintendo titles tend to sell on the long run, and this is yet another proof of that.

Square Enix – 268.000
Nintendo – 240.000
Finally, we have Hardware sale. The Nintendo 3DS was not the best-selling platform in June 2016 in Japan, as it “only” sold 73 141 units during that month. That’s less than in April 2016, but also a noticeable drop compared to last year during the same month (~26 000 units less).
