FAST Racing Neo will have a Hero Mode, Nintendo interview

FAST Racing NeoNintendoLife recently had the opportunity to chat with Martin Sauter (Art Director at Shin’en Multimedia), at the EGX in Birmingham. During that interview, he revealed that FAST Racing Neo will have a Hero Mode, which should definitely please the fans of the F-Zero series. As the name implies, it will offer a substantial challenge, and as you can imagine, you will have to unlock it by progressing in the main campaign.

Hero Mode has three main aspects:

  • It’s designed to pose a big challenge for experienced players;
  • A key mechanic is switched up with the boost energy meter also functioning as a shield mode;
  • You must finish first in the race to unlock the next one.

In the regular mode, the boost energy meter is only for getting an extra speed boost, but in Hero Mode, it will also be linked to the ship’s shield. While this isn’t quite like in a F-Zero game, it’s definitely something fans of the series will have no trouble grasping.
