Bayonetta 2 getting a standalone release on February 19th in North America

Bayonetta 2In February, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will get their sexiest and most wicked DLC character ever: Bayonetta. It looks like Nintendo is planning to use that opportunity to release Bayonetta 2 as a standalone game in North America. This version will be released on February 19th, and will cost $29.99 (as opposed to $59.99 for the bundle with Bayonetta).

Unlike in Europe and Japan, no standalone version of Bayonetta was released in North America. Therefore, this release is pretty interesting for players who already own the first Bayonetta (and/or don’t want to replay it), or those who only want to play Bayonetta 2.

What’s more, the Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 bundle available at launch has become pretty hard to find in stores, so Nintendo’s announcement is really good news for players who are yet to play the game and want to get it at the normal price.

Finally, Nintendo’s announcement allows us to guess when the last batch of DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be released. During the last video presentation for the games, Masahiro Sakurai announced that it would be available sometime in February. According to Nintendo, the standalone release of Bayonetta 2 will be available before the DLC.

Therefore, we can deduce that the last batch of DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be released any day between February 19th and February 29th. Of course, we will have to wait a bit longer before getting a confirmation and the actual release date for the DLC.
