Spain: some sales data (Top 20 Software for 2018, Nintendo games)
In its latest issue, Hobby Consolas shares some more sales data about the video game market in Spain (Top 20 Software, Nintendo games, etc.). Let’s start with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eeevee, which enjoyedd fairly solid sales with 166 000 units sold as of Week 1, 2019. Just like seemingly everywhere else, the Pikachu version was by far the most popular one, with over 100 000 units sold (109 000 units to be precise). The Eevee version only sold about half as well (57 000 units).
In roughly a month, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold over 123 500 units… needless to say, it’s off to a great start! In comparison, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U only sold 67 000… LTD. Given the usual sales trajectory for the series, it’s pretty safe to expect Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to reach 200 000 units LTD, and this very year to boot.
Finally, Yo-kai Watch 3 is off to a decent start with 12 000 units sold in about a month.
Next, we have the Top 20 Software for new releases in 2018. There’s a few Nintendo Switch exclusives in there, and the best-selling one is Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Let’s Go, Eevee! with 150 000 units sold (which means the game sold 16 000 units during Week 1, 2019).
As for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it’s the #7 best-selling game of the year, with 115 000 units sold (which means it sold 8 500 additional units during the first week of the year). Super Mario Party was also pretty popular, with 65 000 units sold (10th best-selling game in 2018).
Dragon Ball FighterZ sold 55 000 units this year, but we don’t know how many units for the Nintendo Switch version specifically. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze sold almost the same amount of units: 53 000 to be precise. A decent performance for the port of a Wii U game, though it definitely could have sold a bit more.
Mario Tennis Aces was the #14th best-selling game with 49 000 units, which is more than NBA 2K19 (a multiplatform title) and its 48 000 units sold (again, no data about the Nintendo Switch version specifically).
Finally, Just Dance 2019 was the #16 best-selling game of the year with 45 000 units sold across all platforms. It’s pretty safe to assume the Wii and the Nintendo Switch makes up the bulk of total sales.
