Feature expansions/adjustments

  • Added 3 specialty items as part of a collaboration with Kiyoken.
  • Added a function enabling you to return all selected Gem types to their locked state and reacquire some of your Mettle.
  • Added a function under initial settings enabling you to individually adjust the strength of certain Turning Point effects.
  • Added a function under initial settings enabling you to turn Turning Point occurrences on or off.
  • Added the option Other than Own Force to the initial settings for the occurrence of the Turning Point Alliance of the Ages.
  • Added a function under initial settings enabling you to turn in-game editing on or off.
  • Added a function under initial settings enabling you to change the music that plays during Turning Points.
  • Separated fictional scenarios based on history into a hypothetical scenario category and made it possible to change the lifespan settings for these hypothetical scenarios.
  • Added a Retire command that allows the player to leave their post as a viceroy, governor, or tactician and become a regular officer.
  • Adjusted cycles and other conditions to make it easier to trigger Tales where the player is appointed as viceroy, governor, or tactician.
  • Added a button enabling you to invite officers to banquets multiple times in a row.
  • Added a function enabling you to assign unused force colors to a new force when triggering the Raise Banner command with an officer who does not have a specific force color.
  • Made changes so that when the Tactic Infighting is triggered, the units fighting one another take the same amount of damage, and made the amount of damage increase depending on the difference in INT between the enemies and allies.
  • Made changes so that placing a companion officer in a city where the protagonist is not located will trigger a confirmation message asking if the player wants to end the accompaniment.
  • Made changes so that the player can see the unlock conditions for locked cutscenes in the Gallery by moving their cursor over the cutscene title.
  • Made changes so that any specialties held by an officer who dies because of their lifespan settings will be transferred to an officer who was closely related to them.
  • Made changes so that NPC officers will have a small chance of discovering unsold items and specialties with no owner as time passes.
  • Made adjustments to increase the Loyalty of officers from forces that became allies as part of the Turning Point Alliance of the Ages.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug that sometimes made it impossible to progress if the player exported new officer data from ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS XIV and then imported the data as an original officer in ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE.
  • Fixed a bug occurring when starting the game, where if the player selected a scenario and had an original officer that was not set to appear, then changed settings so the officer would appear, and then cancelled those settings, that officer would still appear in game.
  • Fixed a bug causing the Gem School of Diplomacy to only affect acts of Diplomacy drawn up by the player.
  • Fixed a bug causing incorrect lifespans for female characters if the initial settings were set to have no female officers.
  • Fixed a bug where if the player had three or more reinforcements cities including their own affiliated city, the computer would not select the player’s affiliated city.
  • Fixed other minor bugs.

  • Added the scenario The Final Battle: Four Lords Unite.
  • Added a function to reset only the voice settings when editing historical officers.
  • Made it possible to set original officers or bonus officers as the owners for registered specialties.
  • Made changes so that personality does not change when the player selects Fictional under Compatibility and Relationships when setting the initial Scenario Settings.
  • Changed the name of Auto Chance Fluctuation under Scenario Settings when starting the game to Occurrence of Turning Points.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug affecting unlocked bonuses of officers from ancient times in ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE, which caused the unlocked bonuses to be returned to their locked state when players loaded their data.
  • Fixed a bug where ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS 8 REMAKE data for original officers or edited historical officers with voice type settings selected, such as the voices of Liu Bei or Cao Cao, would load with different voice types when transferred.
  • Fixed a bug where parts of historical officer edits would appear in game despite the setting for displaying these edits being turned off.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented input specialty names from being reflected properly.
  • Fixed a bug preventing some historical officers from being selected as owners of registered specialties.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the model settings for registered specialties to change after saving the settings and then relaunching the game.
  • Fixed a bug preventing the protagonist from meeting with Cao Cao in scenarios that take place in earlier years.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented STRAT Pts. from increasing even after unlocking the Tactician type Gem Remaining Flexible.

How to download updates for Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake with Power-Up Kit on Nintendo Switch?

To download the updates for Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake with Power-Up Kit, you have three options:

  • let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated, and didn’t completely turn it off

If not…

  • try to launch the game from the Home Menu while being connected to the internet. You should get a prompt when doing so: simply follow the instructions on screen;

OR

  • select the game > press either + or – to go to the Options page > select Software update > select Via the Internet.

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply select the game on the Home Menu, and press – or + to go to the Options: the version number is displayed just below the game title.
