[Japan] Famitsu sales for October 2026 (Top 5 Software, Publishers, Hardware)

Here’s the latest sales report from Famitsu, with Hardware and Software sales for October 2026 in Japan (September 28th to October 25th, so 4 weeks in total).

Top 5 Software

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort ranked #2 in October with nearly 65.000 units sold during its launch week. There is little doubt it will enjoy steady sales during the upcoming holidays season, though it’s not clear if it will come anywhere near what its predecessor sold on Nintendo Switch.

As for Final Fantasy Resonance, it’s off to a strong start with around 133.000 units sold across all platforms. If you combine all SKU, then Final Fantasy Resonance was actually the best-selling game in October.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Kingdom Hearts Collection [I – III] landed just outside the Top 5 Software with a little over 31.000 units sold at retail.

Finally, only the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Tales of Eternia Remastered managed to chart. It ranked #10 with around 20.000 units sold.

Overall, October was a pretty busy month: 8 of the games in the Top 10 Software are new releases!

Publishers

Yet again, Nintendo was the most successful publisher in Japan in October with around 304.000 units sold. While Nintendo Switch Sports Resort made a sizeable contribution, recent releases (like Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave) and the usual evergreen titles (like Rhythm Heaven Groove) did most of the work.

Square-Enix is #2 with around 196.000 units sold, most of which come from Final Fantasy Resonance and Kingdom Hearts Collection I – III.

Finally, Bandai-Namco ranked #3 thanks to the solid sales of their recent releases, including (on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 specifically) Tales of Eternia Remastered and ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet.

  1. Nintendo – 304.000
  2. Square-Enix – 196.000
  3. Bandai-Namco – 157.000
Hardware

In October, the Nintendo Switch 2 saw another drop in sales ahead of the launch of the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Model and the “Choose your Game” bundle (releasing on October 30th and November 12th respectively). But with over 92.000 units sold, it remains the best-selling console in Japan by a safe margin.

  1. Nintendo Switch 2 – 92.226 (previous month: 119.161)
  2. PlayStation 5 – 51.354 (previous month: 32.831)
