Heading Out : music videos (#1: Same Old Road)

Heading Out is a black and white narrative racing game developed by Serious Sim, and inspired by classic road movies such as Vanishing Point, Thelma & Louise, The Duel, and Two-Lane Blacktop. Music-wise, the game will feature an original double album, itself inspired by driving songs from the 70’s and 90’s, featuring Classic Rock and Americana-inspired songs.

Serious Sim have started sharing some music videos for the game, starting with Same Old Road by Damian Czajka (from Serious Sim) and Łukasz Kościelny (musician). It features vocals by Jay Nemor.

Heading Out (Switch – eShop) does not have a release date yet, but is slated for a late 2022 release in Europe and North America.

About Heading Out

Get behind the wheel of an iconic muscle car and travel through the mythical American West. Participate in illegal street races. Escape from the police. Or just enjoy a drive through beautiful plains and curvy mountain roads. Heading Out is a game for everyone who yearns for freedom, space and speed.

Thanks to its rouge-like-ish structure, individual runs in Heading Out will be radically different every time. It is up to the player to decide their destination and the route they will take. During the journey they have to pay attention to the car’s condition, money, gas level and the police who’s on their tail. The player may encounter more than 100 unique events presented in the form of short comics. Almost every one of them concludes with a meaningful choice – its consequences will impact the rest of the journey. Will you share fuel with a stranger? Will you call your old friend? Or maybe get into a fight with stoned hippies?

A character creator in the form of a psychological test will allow the player to create their perfect driver. What are you most afraid of? What are your dreams? Are you close with your family? Radio hosts following the main character’s journey will learn more about the driver over time and comment on both their actions and past.

Hop into a muscle car and drive through the American West in a game inspired by 1970s road movies. Enjoy the ride in this narrative-driven racing experience with a comic book aesthetic. Choose your own route across the USA in a game where every run is a personalized, unique experience.
