Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: additional details and footage

During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo shared some additional details about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which launches on December 1st worldwide (digital and physical, with upgrade pack also available for players who already own the Nintendo Switch version. Make sure to update the game beforehand!).

First up, here’s the recording of the segment from the Nintendo Direct, in case you missed it:

Defeat as many waves of enemies as you can in the new Heroes’ Vault mode. Strengthen your forces as you play by enhancing their abilities or gaining additional allies.

Plus, team up with a new hero, Shimmer, an Attacker with rapid-fire combos, powerful strikes, and the Foresight ability that allows her to see the future.

And here’s another video with some additional footage:

What to expect in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition? Well, the usual graphics and performance improvements:

  • Resolution: 4k in TV mode, and 1080p in Handheld Mode
  • Framerate: 60fps in both modes

And in case you’re wondering: yes, the Future Redeemed expansion also gets the technical improvements! (Do note that the Expansion Pass is NOT included in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, so you will need to purchase it separately if you don’t already own it).

With the Nintendo Switch 2 version running at 60fps and smoother camera movements, players can expect a much more comfortable experience compared to the original — even during battles with lots of enemies, or when moving the camera around a lot!

And just like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, this enhanced version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will introduce some new content!

First up: a new Hero called Shimmer (voiced by Shino Shimoji in Japanese). Her class is Light Swordfighter (Attacker), and she can unleash rapid combos and powerful single strikes. And fans of the Xenoblade Chronicles series will have immediately noticed that this new Hero was designed by none other than Masatsugu Saito!

Also, this version introduces a new game mode called Heroes’ Vault. In this mode, you fight against relentless waves of enemies. Every time you level up, you can choose between several upgrades, and the choice you make may well determine the outcome of the next battles… Recruit Heroes to your team and take on large-scale battles!

Finally, here’s some additional details and pictures for the game:

New challenges and allies await in Aionios. Take on waves of enemies in the new Heroes’ Vault mode, where each victory lets you strengthen your party with enhanced abilities or additional allies before facing a powerful final foe. Also, Shimmer joins the adventure as a new Hero, bringing rapid-fire combos and powerful strikes, plus the Foresight ability that allows her to see the future.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) comes out on December 1st worldwide.
