Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition announced, demo version, Opening Movie

With less than a month left until release, Nihon Falcom and GungHo have announced that Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter isn’t just releasing on Nintendo Switch: it’s also getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition!

Here’s what you can expect from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Nintendo Switch 2 Edition:

  • Higher resolution and frame rate for shaper, smoother graphics
  • Reduced load times for a more seamless experience
  • There will be no changes to in-game content

The bad news: this edition will only be available as an Upgrade Pack for the Nintendo Switch edition, and will seemingly not be available at retail (not surprising given the short delay between announcement and release).

The good news: it only costs 1€ / $1 / 150 Yen! And with the Nintendo Switch version being fully on cart, no Game Key Card shenanigans for players who really insist on owning a physical copy.

Also, Nihon Falcom has released a demo version on Nintendo Switch today. It’s only available in Japan as of writing, but will be released in other regions soon.

This demo allows you to check out the beginning of the Liberl arc, and more precisely the Prologue and a variety of quests. And if this demo sells you on the game, you will be able to transfer your save data to the full game and keep playing from where the demo left off. However, do note that you will need to download the latest update before you can do so.

Next: Nihon Falcom and GungHo have shared the Opening Movie for the game:
