The Legend of Zelda: live-action movie to release on April 30th 2027

Update 2: Shigeru Miyamoto has announced another change to the release date of the Legend of Zelda live-action movie. It will now release on April 30th 2027 worldwide, one week earlier than the previous date (which was shared nearly a year ago!).

Here’s the message from Shigeru Miyamoto:

This is Miyamoto. I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7. The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There’s less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting.

Update: Shigeru Miyamoto himself has announced that the Legend of Zelda live-action movie will now release on May 7th 2027 (several weeks later than previously announced). With this delay (due to production reasons), the production team will ensure the movie is as good as it can be.

Yesterday, Nintendo launched a brand new app: Nintendo Today!, which aims at providing fans with daily news and content related to Nintendo consoles and games. And less than 24 hours after its launch, Nintendo has already used it to make a pretty major announcement: the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie will release on March 26th 2027 worldwide!

With this announcement, Nintendo is sending a message: Nintendo Today! isn’t just some gimmicky app simply recycling content already available elsewhere, the company truly does intend to use it to share notable announcements in the future.

And with Shigeru Miyamoto promising Nintendo Switch 2 news following the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2nd, it looks like there will be plenty of reasons for users to check the Nintendo Today! app daily.

Thanks Danny for the heads up!
