PokéNews (Nov. 17) – Pokémon Sun and Moon / Pokémon GO

Today’s Pokémon news: promo video and commercial for the Z-Ring toy for Pokémon Sun and Moon, but also…

  • Pokémon Sun and Moon toys and merchandise
  • Pokémon GO
  • Pokémon Sun and Moon (anime series)
  • Pokémon Centers

Pokémon Sun and Moon

Here’s a promotional video and some commercials for the Z-Ring toy, launching alongside Pokémon Sun and Moon:

We can see that the toy can be used along with the game, but also on its own, with a special DVD, at special events, and even the Pokémon Ga-Olé game on Arcade (scanning it allows you to use a Z-Move in-game).

Speaking of toys for Pokémon Sun and Moon, here’s a promotional video for the Rotom Pokédex toy:

Pokémon GO

The Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefectures (in Japan) were among those hit the hardest by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. On November 11th, a special event for Pokémon GO was launched in those prefectures, with increased spawn rate for Laplas. The goal was quite obviously to increase the number of visitors, and boost the economy.

And it looks like it’s been successful:

  • more than 10 000 people visited the Miyagi prefecture on Saturday alone;
  • sales for local shops doubled from the previous week

Naturally, this event had the usual “Pokémon side-effects” with traffic congestion, illegal on-street parking, and more, distracted players not paying attention to their surroundings, and more.

The event will last until November 23rd.

Pokémon Centers

Starting tomorrow, the various Pokémon Center stores across Japan will use a brand new logo. Ahead of that change, The Pokémon Company has revealed the logo for each store:
