The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Note on voices, alternate ending, screens, Wii U boxarts

A few days ago, we learned from a Nintendo rep that Japanese voices would be available in the European version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Many took that as the confirmation the game would offer “dual-audio”, but Eiji Aonuma reveals that it will not be the case after all.

In an interview with IGN Portugal, Eiji Aonuma confirms that players will indeed be able to play with Japanese voices, but to do so, they will have to switch the console’s language to Japanese… and therefore, setting the whole game to Japanese, text included.

In other words, you can only have voices in the same language as text, and it doesn’t look like you will be able to switch things up a bit, like having English voices with French text, or Japanese voices with English. Overall, this is a rather awkward system, so hopefully Nintendo will provide a patch to change that…

Also during that interview with IGN Portugal, Eiji Aonuma revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would have an alternate ending. To trigger it, you will have to meet certain criteria… which ones, exactly? There most likely will not be any way of knowing until the game is out…
