Terraria: CodeGlue to keep working on update for the 3DS version

Today, 505 Games posted a major update regarding Terraria on consoles, and made some pretty big announcements:

  • the old gen platforms (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) will receive one last update in September, with plenty of bug fixes, improvements, and more. After that, there will be no more updates due to technical limitations, and those versions will remain at Ver. 1.24 content
  • the current gen platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One) will receive a major update in Q2 2017, with Ver. 1.30 content
  • Pipeworks Studios will take care of the current gen platforms from now on.

Now, you might be wondering: “Well, what about the Wii U? The Nintendo 3DS?”. And the answer is… we don’t quite know. 505 Games doesn’t mention the Wii U at all in its post, but we can assume the Wii U will keep receiving updates until it’s caught up with the content of the other old gen platforms.

As for the Nintendo 3Ds version, 505 Games does mention that CodeGlue will remain on board for upcoming updates but… that’s it. We don’t know how long this version will keep receiving updates, or where they will stop content-wise. One thing’s pretty much guaranteed: both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions will not get the Ver. 1.3 content.

As soon as we get more details, we will make sure to update this post or write another one!
