Super Mario Run: Android version releasing in March

Update: Nintendo just announced that Super Mario Run would be released on Android in March!

On December 15th, Super Mario Run was released: it’s the very first mobile game (officially!) featuring Mario, and it’s already been downloaded over 50 million times worldwide. But unfortunately, the game is only available on iOS for now, Nintendo citing various reasons for the Apple exclusivity (including security).

On Android, players will have to wait until next year, though unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t specified when exactly the app would be released on Google’s mobile OS. But today, out of the blue, Nintendo opened the pre-registration page for Super Mario Run on the Play Store: you can click here to pre-register, and get notified when the app goes live.

One might wonder why Nintendo decided to suddenly open that page, as we still don’t even have a release window for Super Mario Run on Android. The reason is pretty simple: many people are taking advantage of the delayed release to try and scam players with fake apps. At best, you will end up with a really poor clone (filled with ads). At worst, you might infect your device with some malware…

In order to avoid people download one of the fake Super Mario Run apps, Nintendo decided to open a pre-registration page. That way, it should help prevent users from downloading the likes of Super Marlo Run, though there’s no doubt we will keep seeing more and more clones until the app is officially released.

Super Mario Run (Android) will be released next year, worldwide.
