Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns – Localisation blog post, English screens

A few months ago, XSEED announced they were working on an English localisation for Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, the latest entry in the Story of Seasons series. It’s been a while since we last heard about the game, but there’s a good reasons for that: it’s taking a long time to translate.

After all, it features more than 2 million characters in Japanese, which is by far the biggest script ever for the series (Story of Seasons was at 1.7 million characters). Since full-time translators are expected to complete 125 000 characters a month, you could see why this would take a long time. They also had to create not one, but two spreadsheets for all the text in the game, because there just was too much for only one.

In the first localisation blog post for the game, XSEED mostly talks about the three villages to be found in the game. They start by clearing an apparently common misconception: you do not have to chose one village over the other. Your farm basically serves as a hub, where you can reach all three villages.

You cannot move it to one of them, but you can decorate it to your liking. Prefer the Japanese theme of Tsuyukusa Town? No problem! Want to match styles and influences? Knock yourself out!
