Splatoon: new map to be added in a few hours, special demo event in Japan, more

New map

During the Splatoon Direct, in May, Nintendo announced that new content (map and weapons) for Splatoon would be added regularly to the game. The point is obviously to keep players interested, so that they keep on playing without getting bored with the same weapons and maps (even though everything was simply locked away on the disc, so far).

Splatoon 1This week, we’re back to the regular planning for Splatoon content “updates”, with the usual batch of new weapons added on Wednesday morning (Tuesday evening for players who live in North America), and the new map on Saturday morning (Friday evening for players from North America).

The new map to be added in a few hours is called Camp Triggerfish, and was already seen several times in pictures posted by the Squid Research Lab on Twitter.

Here’s some pictures for Camp Triggerfish:

This new map will be added at the usual time, tomorrow:

– Europe: 4AM
– UK: 3AM
– North America (EDT): 10PM (July 24th)
– North America (PDT): 7PM (July 24th)
– Japan: 11AM

Demo event in Japan and Splatfest

Splatoon demo

Remember the Global Testfire Event that Nintendo ran twice before the launch of Splatoon? Well… it’s back in Japan! In order to take advantage of the Summer holidays, and the fact that children will have plenty of free time, Nintendo is going to have a similar event next month, with the demo playable only for a limited period of time.

This special demo event will take place from August 3rd to August August 9th, from 9AM to 10AM (JST). During that time, players who have downloaded the demo version of Splatoon will be able to play online. Of course, they won’t have access to all the maps, weapons and pieces of equipment.

Finally, here’s the design of the t-shirts for the third Splatfest in Japan:
