Ripstone Games bringing Ironcast to the Nintendo Switch

Already available on other platforms, Ironcast is a Steampunk turn-based strategy game from Dreadbit (developers) and Ripstone Games (publisher). And it was just announced that it was headed to the Nintendo Switch this very Summer (yes, this is the game they were teasing over the past few days!).

If you’ve never heard of Ironcast before, the best thing thing to do would be to watch the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer, to see what it’s like in action!

Set in an alternative Victorian history, Ironcast is a turn-based strategy game where gigantic mechanised war machines are used in war against the enemies of the British Empire. You get to play as a Commander of the Consortium of Merit, who take control of a 7 metre tall walking Ironcast to defend London from invading forces also using Ironcast.

During battle, you need to generate resources nodes, which are the very source of power of the Ironcast’s weapons and systems. The key resides in choosing how to spend those nodes: do you use them for offense, or defense? Finding the right balance to fit each situation and mission is quite simply crucial.

This is a pretty unforgiving game, where death is permanent. However, the rewards also are! The game features randomly generated missions, making sure no two campaigns are the same. There’s also over 50 unlockable items, rare enemy loot drops, and more.

The game can be played using all three play styles of the Nintendo Switch:

  • TV Mode
  • Tabletop Mode (with the Pro Controller)
  • Handheld Mode (using either the buttons, or the touch screen, since the game does offer full touch screen functionality)

Naturally, Ironcast on Nintendo Switch does support HD Rumble!

If the trailer above wasn’t enough for you, and want to see more of the game, make sure to tune in to the livestream taking place… right now on Twitch! The game will also be playable at E3 2017, in a couple of weeks.

Ironcast (Switch – eShop) will be released this Summer in Europe and North America. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
