Reggie: Splatoon to be the Mario Kart of shooters

Last week, the European and North American press got to try out the latest build of Splatoon (see this article for new screenshots, and this one for gameplay videos). Destructoid got the opportunity to talk a bit with Reggie Fils-Aimé about the game, and the president of Nintendo of America had a very interesting thing to say.

First of all, he reiterated that Splatoon was a major new IP for Nintendo, that isn’t all about skills. The game was designed in such a way that, no matter your skill level, you will be able to have fun with it. In fact, that company is aiming to make Splatoon the Mario Kart of shooters, which is definitely a hefty goal. It’s a bit too early to know if they’ll succeed in the end, but at the very least, they seem to have created a really fun game!

Splatoon (Wii U) comes out in May, worldwide.
