Pokémon: I Choose You (movie)

Today, The Pokémon Company shared some news about Pokémon: I Choose You, the latest Pokémon movie, which is getting a limited theatrical release in November (click here for more details).

First, here’s a teaser trailer for the movie:

If you’re interested in watching this movie in theatres, you can now buy some tickets from the Fathom Events website!

But that’s not all, the Cap Pikachu distribution were also announced for Pokémon Sun and Moon. There’s 6 special Pikachu to get, using the following Serial Code: PIKACHU20. There’s only that one Serial Code, and it can only be used once: that’s because you can only get one of the 6 Special Pikachu (if you want the remaining 5, you will have to find a way to trade with friends).

The Pikachu you will end up with depends on when you enter the Serial Code in Pokémon Sun and Moon:

  • September 19th to September 25th: Original hat (Kanto and Johto regions)
  • September 26th to October 2nd: Hoenn region hat
  • October 3rd to October 9th: Sinnoh region hat
  • October 10th to October 16th: Unova region hat
  • October 17th to October 23rd: Kalos region hat
  • October 24th to October 30th: Alola region hat

Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s not just the hat that changes: each Pikachu variant knows different moves, depending on those most frequently used in the region the cap is from:

  • Original cap: comes at Level 1, with the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder, and Agility;
  • Hoenn Cap: comes at Level 6, with the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Thunder, and Iron Tail;
  • Sinnoh Cap: comes at Level 10, with the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, and Volt Tackle;
  • Unova Cap: comes at Level 14, with the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, and Volt Tackle;
  • Kalos Cap: comes at Level 17, with the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, and Electro Ball
  • Alola Cap: comes at Level 20, with the moves Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, and Electro Ball.

In Japan, the Serial Code allowed you to get the Pikachu + the Pikashunium Z Z-Crystal (for the 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt Z-Move), but it’s not clear if it will also be the case in the west.

But that’s not all: fans who go watch the movie in theatres will be able to get a QR Code for Pokémon: I Choose You Cap Pikachu, for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. If the Magearna distribution is anything to go by, this QR Code will be shareable with other players! Finally, an exclusive Ash’s Pikachu Pokémon TCG card will also be distributed in theatres!

The list of Serial Codes for Pokémon Sun and Moon and the list of QR Codes for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have both been updated!
