Pokémon GO

Last week, the Global Catch Catch event took place in Pokémon GO, and as announced earlier this week, it was a resounding success. Players were tasked with catching 3 billion Pokémon, and they ended up catching 3.36 million units. As a result, Ho-Oh has begun appearing in Raid Battles, until December 12th.

At the same time, the Pokémon GO Safari Zone took place in the Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan, from November 24th to November 26th. Nearly 90 000 people attended (89 000, to be precise), with 37 000 people on November 25th (the peak day). Together, they caught no less than 12 million Pokémon (including Unown).

According to the press release, this event generated 1.8 billion Yen (13.6 million € / 16 million $ / 12 million £), with 13 billion Yen for tourism, and 500 million Yen for “PR effect”.

Pokémon Center

Today, it was announced that a new Pokémon Center stores will open on March 14th, in Tokyo (Nihonbashi, to be more precise). It’s called Pokémon Center Tokyo DX, but what’s really interesting about it isn’t the name… it’s the fact it will have a Pokémon Café (the first of its kind)

Also, Nihonbashi also happens to be where the very first Pokémon Center store opened back in 1998… that’s quite the iconic location for the series!

Here’s some early pictures of the stores and the café:
