Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO was launched in July last year, and it was a tremendous success right from the get go. In fact, it was such a success that during the first few weeks, the development team didn’t have time for anything else than making sure the game ran properly.

While quite a lot of new features have been added since launch, some key ones are still missing, such as proper PvP (Player vs Player), trading, or events for the Legendary Pokémon. But it looks like some of them will finally be added this Summer (barring any other delay).

Here’s what Mathieu de Fayet (Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Niantic) had to say on the matter:

Due to the large success of the game, we had to delay some planned innovations. Right now we are working on some that are due to hit this summer (in the northern hemisphere), such as giving more value to the choice of the teams, releasing Legendary Pokémon and introducing PvP. One thing we learned with Ingress was that the game can sustain itself if we are able to create social interactions amongst players, and we are working on that.

Speaking on Pokémon GO… On Friday, Niantic uploaded a blog post about the game’s… loading screens, or rather, the illustrations used for those. Ever wondered how they were created? Well, you can now find out by clicking here! You can also download a HD version of each loading screen there!

PokéLand

A few days, PokéLand was announced for Android and iOS, and an Alpha Test is currently underway in Japan. Later today, the Champion Tower (with 15 floors to go through) will finally open for alpha testers. Completing this tower allows you to befriend Dragon-type Pokémon, such as Dragonite for example. However, progress cannot be transferred to the final version of the game.
