NB: since this page was created on January 17th, we’re only listing Software updates released from January 17th onwards.

How to update Pokémon GO for Android and iOS?

To download updates for Pokémon GO, you have two options:

  • tap on the notification that should appear on your phone;
  • go to the App Store / Google Play Store, and more precisely to the “My Apps & Games” section > Installed tab (Play Store, Android) or the Updates tab (AppStore, iOS).

To check that you have the latest version installed, simply launch the game. You should see the version number at the bottom of the page in the Settings section / General Menu (Ver. 0.83.1 / Ver. 1.53.2 for the latest update).

  • Additional Pokémon: more than 80 new Pokémon, from the Johton region. Includes gender-specific variations;
  • New Evolutions: some Pokémon from the original Pokémon games got an evolution in Pokémon Gold and Silver. In order to make those evolve, you will need new Evolution items (to be found in PokéStops);
  • New Encounter Gameplay: Pokémon will react in new ways when you encounter them in the wild, and try to catch them. Item carousels will also added to the encounter screen, allowing you to easily and quickly select Berries and Poké Balls;
